ok, they have great work and I like that the site allows me to look at it first and foremost, with large images. Design wise its fine, simple, fit (as said) for purpose.

There are things I don't like about the interface though:

the bottom scrolly menu - this bugs me. First it has the top level projects, then I click one and the top level project choice is gone, replaced by the project images. I'm not thick and that threw me slightly. Once I'd figured it out, it just annoyed me that I had to go hunting again for interface choices which I had been given up front. I think they should have built a two tier system of some sort for this.

secondly on this, the scroll bar is buggy, every time I grab it and scroll to the side (which I have to do, because unlike any flash scrolling thumbnail nav worth its salt it does not detect that I'm at the end of the row and bump it along for me automatically) it doesn't release when I release my mouse button. this is infuriating if you are as impatient as me.

In relation to whether I like SEA, these are minor quibbles, in relation to whether I like their site they're pretty big for me actually. They stop it from being a nice site I like to use, its one I find myself fighting with.

I get annoyed with browser resizing as well, it takes over control of my experience, surprises me when I don't want to be surprised and is completely unnecessary for this site - why?

As for flash vs html, it doesn't bother me much, though I see no point in making it flash really.

    • they should have next and back on the project images too, imho and a way to click the project images without entering the gallerykelpie
    • the gallery.kelpie
    • thanks kelpie, you summed up my thoughts without me having to do as much typingcalculator
