I assume you are the filmmaker, so my first and honest reactions-

Stuff I liked: The lead is quite good and has a lot of presence. Good casting, real good casting. Very nicely lit, looks good. Feels like 'The Wire' in it's overall palette. Thank you for having what seems to be a real story to tell, and not some hipster quirky bullshit. I am genuinely interested in seeing the rest.

Stuff I am not that into:
-Wasn't buying the protagonist/antagonist back and forth. Felt like an inner city cliche. The lead's body language and tone told me that was his brother who he hasn't seen in a long time, who he doesn't want to talk to. Is it? Or is he just a mugger? I realize that fact may be a reveal, but have you set it up correctly?

-Felt a total disconnect with the music. That stuff is for Lifetime and Oxygen movies.

-I get why you used the continuous steadicam shot at the beginning - we're following him right into this confrontation. But I don't know. Maybe it's because i kind of hate steadicam now, but I feel like the two shots would have been better served as handheld, or on sticks. Plus there are these great opportunities for really interesting framing given the environment. Maybe less personal, but maybe more ominous that way? Just my take on it, is all. That's a nitpicky preference thing too.

-I though it was a real pity that it ended where it did. Yeah I know - webisodes - but it didn't come across as episodic to me. It was simply the beginning, the setup for the story. I would recommend getting some more material before you end this part. This ending was just "Aw, he took my shit. Damn."

Take or leave it, but nice work. Best of luck with the rest!

    • I am not the filmmaker but I will make sure he sees this comment and joins in. He will be very pleased to hear what folks have to say about his work. Thank you for taking the time and giving such a honest comments.dirtylittlesecret
