Use the settings viewer to make sure the capture/project/export settings are the same. I presume that your video is 720x576 25fps dv1 pal and all that crap. Try in iMovie too, and try with only the camcorder conected by firewire? It might be that you listen to the wrong music, it can make a real difference you know, oh I don't care, I stack shelves for sainsburys for a living and my till has 'got the internet'.
