I could care less about the whole hipster element. I don't have one, but i have wanted one for the simple reason that there's so little to go wrong with one. If it were cheap I wouldn't mind keeping it locked up outside or letting it get a little beat up. I have a decent mountain bike, a Specialized Rockhopper, but I don't ride it around my neighborhood just to get around. I use it more when camping or for longer rides in the city.
I think it would be great to just have something simple to get around with. It's flat here in Chicago, one gear wouldn't be that bad.
The only two things I'd do differently would be to have a freewheel and a brake on the back. That front brake stuff is absurd.
- front break is great for climbing anything. and using both is powerful.erikjonsson
- Actually a front break is better for stopping a bike.
