I think the main problems with this comp are that the gradient colors in the header are kind of ugly and distract from the copy. Second issue is that the header text and spacing is simply way too big. If I have a small monitor, the header is all I'm going to see ;)
But I like what you're trying to do here compared with previous comps in terms of getting rid of the background image and going for a cleaner look. I think you should include the thumbnails in the mockup since it will create a much different impression. Also not 100% sold on the brown color scheme. If you go with this it needs a contrasting color, but I also think the blue on your site would work. Helvetica is fine but kind of a boring choice when the design leans so heavily on the type.
