The whole Web 2.0 aesthetic trend is over. Let's leave that way.
That being said, I think your design has potential.
- Bring the relevant content to your users immediately (more projects on the frontpage).
- Align your different elements better (use a grid).
- Use a clear hierarchy in your type.
- Loose the wet floor effects.Keep us posted. :)
