Indexhibit is a trend too though, so many postfolios look the same now. Is that a good thing? I'm not sure.

    • I think it's a good thing, because it makes it easier to be objective.. i.e. you can compare work more easily, maybe?

    • .. for the same reasons, most gallery interiors are 'white cubes'.

    • I dunno, to me it's like an FTP dump with pics. A good portfolio site is definitely a plus. A bad one is definitely a minus though.jimbojones
    • re: white cubes, it's always refreshing when artists actually do something with the gallery interior and tie it up with the works. But it's not always possiblejimbojones
    • yeah, I agree .. in that case Indexhibit is a '0' (which may or may not be a good thing)

    • works. But it's not always possible and it's a different story on the interwebs.jimbojones
    • That's true.. it would seem that cost isn't so much of a limiting factor for web portfolios (opposite true for galleries). But maybe there's a link between money-cost (for galleries) and skill-cost for (web portfolios). Galleries can't spend a lot customising each show's setting, because they don't have the cash - so they compromise with a white cube. People who aren't skilled at webdesign / development, don't have the skills - so they're better off with a bog-standard 'white cube' solution.

    • sometimes the white cube is just what it needs. it's still a different location, lighting and all every time. not so online.jimbojones
