I dislike the website copy ("Hey there" .. etc). Once it might have seemed daring/cute to reach out to the reader as if the site's a person striking up a conversation, but due to it's ubiquity I find it annoying/nauseating.
Work from the basics. What's the most important information on the page? Where do you want your users attention to be drawn to first? How can you anticipate your user's needs? If you think all of this kind of thing through - and let the form follow function - people will love your site.
Indexhibit is good because it cuts out the bullshit and concentrates on the work being displayed.
