The biggest advantage of iPhone over iPod Touch is not the phone part. When I first used touchscreen to make a call it felt so retarded UI-wise and it still does sometimes. In NYC, where it is fucking cold in Winter, a phone you need to touch with a bare finger to pick up and I guess in many cases have to put cold glass to your ear is ridiculous.
The biggest advantage of the iPhone though is that it has internets.

Now, don't get me wrong – since I got iPhone I'm not even interested in other phones on the market. I'm not saying it should have tactile keyboard. It's just that.. I dunno.. I'm happy it never gets freezing in Dublin, haha.

Don't like AT&T? Import a factory unlocked iPhone, they're sold in Belgium, Hong Kong, Italy (one carrier I hear), Poland (ERA) and who knows where. You can use any carrier you wish then with their unlocked data plan.
