I believe Chuck Klosterman had an anecdote on women in NYC, he coming from Fargo, North Dakota. Pretty sure it was in "Killing Yourself To Live," which is within reach of me right now but doubtful I would find it very quickly... it was, as usual, a sweeping generalization and concluded that while the NYC-breed of women was notably career-motivated and insane, and both more AND less genuine than all the small-town girls he had ever come across.
In other words, he has no fucking clue, but you see what you want to see, and you're usually wrong. Or something like that.
