Hey John, thanks for the email today. My first design gig was $200.00 plus a year's supply of coffee (it was for a coffee house) back in 1998. Ahhh, the memories. $250.00 is fine, but remember "perception is reality". If you say it's worth $250, it's worth $250. if you say it's worth $5k, it's worth $5k. After you graduate, you better be charging a lot more...
