  I could be snarky and say the best side job is to be independently wealthy, having inherited millions, you can teach part time as an adjunct at a prestigious art school, design the rare and beautiful poster for a pro-bono non-profit dance troupe or similar likely - to -win - awards client who will let you do anything....

  But... in our real world, anything with health insurance and a lack of insanity wins.... unless it involves working in cube-land.... or nonstop client ego service... wait! isn't that why you're wanting autonomous work?!?
