I love it. Gorgeous city, tons and tons of culture and plenty of outdoors activities (surfing, hiking, bike-riding, camping, snowboard/skiing not too far away).
For a designer, I can't imagine a more saturated and competitive job market as far as U.S. cities go. It was over-saturated with good, mediocre and bad designers to begin with; now, it must be more cutthroat than ever.
This is all speculation, mind you.

- the first crash in 2000-1 cleaned out many of the original dot.com hacks. the more recent recession probably did as well.kld
