    1. extrude bevel.
    2. object > expand appearance
    3. object > flatten transparency (100 Vectors)
    4. select ONLY the extruded shapes
    5. fill with gradient (play with gradients)
    6. (optional)
    If you JUST select the extrusion and fill with a gradient - you'll notice they're all different shapes, being different sizes, so the gradients will all appear differently as well. If you, once again, select ONLY the extrusions and under WINDOW > PATHFINDER > click the first shapemode and then click EXPAND - the gradient will ALL be coming in uniformally.
