A creative director once said to me "show me some great creative and I'll write a brief" ... not the official way, but....uh...
but seriously, a good brief is there not just for the designer, but for the account team to prevent things from going sideways, turning into questions of oddball taste from the nervous client who simply doesn't like a color choice or wants a logo bigger... a smart brief is setup to quash random objections
