    It may be true that public education is not as good, but think about what kind of society would be like if we didn't have it.

    Why should you pay taxes, 1/10000000000000000th of which goes to some poor inner city kid's education? Because, that kid, given the chance of an education, might grow up to be the next Steve Jobs, making all our lives better. Even barring that, he has a chance to lift himself out of poverty. Why even have a country if we don't think we owe a little to the society as a whole?
