    Yeah but who says the "modern, social perspective" is healthy?
    Most times one of two things happens:
    1) The kid self-weans
    or
    2) The mom no longer desires to breastfeed

    The World Health Organization says children should be breastfed AT LEAST until they are 2 and then after that point it is up to the mother and child.
