I went to giggle at THE LOCUST a year ago - and after suffering through some awful band called The Get Hustle - as they hit their last note - there was this incredibly loud pounding and screeching sound.
I went over to see what the hell was going on - only to find the band playing IN THE CROWD
it was the most visceral, loud, agonizing and amazing thing I've ever experienced.
Kids were falling all over the drummer, knocking his stuff down and bumping into him - but he kept going.
anyway - I've been a fan ever since.
They just played Seattle last tuesday - which I sadly had to miss because of work.
Apparently they decided to play on the sidewalk outside.
6 police cars showed up and started to black stuff off.THe drummer stood on his drume throne to see what it was - and then continued to play until they got their plug pulled.
Insane.
but yeah, 99% of people will think they're unlistenable.
I think they're awesome.
