    ^ it's a point of frustration and confusion for the older generation

    back in the day if you said you knew cars or if you worked on cars all day, you knew how to fix them. knowledge was measured in skills, trades. nowadays everything is measured by minute, specifics. by any of our parents standards we work on computers should mean that we understand anything "under the hood." when more realistically we all have specialties - you know how to work the windows, i am particulary adept at the radio dials, etc.
