    the bypass sounds good, dxf import into 3d app > high resolution rasterized output (different files / channels for different layers in illustrator if necessary) > jpg-import into illustrator > vectorize

    little tidying up would be expected, maybe basic re-texturing the 3d objects for better export, but should work?
