I'm far from an apple fanboy, but design/UI wise I have to go for OSX every time. Strip away the swooshy background image and the interface is, imo, much cleaner, clearer and easier to use.
Vista seemed to be an attempt to ape the aqua look, and a few steps toward a more intuitive interface (including seach etc), and windows 7 from a brief look seems to me a bolder step toward including in windows certain features which have been successful in OSX forever. grouping the search results into 'libraries', the task bar seems a bit more dock-like, snapping windows together expose=like and pointing the mouse to the corner to show desktop.
I'm very glad they are learning from apple and improving the interface of windows. I have an auto upgrade from vista and I can't wait.
main hope though is that they simply improve the performance
