Damn, sorry to hear that. Do you know what stage they found it & where, if it's early they can fight it quite successfully.
I went through the same thing with my Lady. We just had a child & a month later they told her she had cancer. Totally turned our world upside down. She's just finished chemo & is doing well, so there is definitely hope our there.
Check out this site it really helped me understand what was going on & has a good list of questions to ask the doctors
