  I still don't see the issue here. People who call themselves critics (and man, that's a nice job, wish I could land it;P) are paid to do exactly what the guy did, say what they think about stuff.

  Is he an asshole? Sure, maybe. But he could just as easily go to a Coldplay concert and say, Coldplay are a bunch of pathetic idiots and no one would be criticizing him for expressing his view. Now personally I hate Coldplay but I like Joshua Davis but you get my point, it's just a guy writing for a magazine.
