I don't believe in spending thousands of dollars for an engagement ring or a wedding ring. In fact I didn't even spend a dime for it. I'm married and my wife never had an engagement ring (she might not have been too happy about that, but that's how it went 12 years ago).
I believe that you don't need to prove your love to her by spending a shit load of money. Yes, it's a symbolic thing, but it has become such a commercialize thing that it has lost its real meaning.
"Oh he bought me a ring, that means that he is really serious and he loves me!!". BULLSHIT!! With or without the ring he would love her the same way!I do believe however that the wedding ring is what officially represent the union between a couple. So to me it's more important. We have a very nice Tiffany silver band, that we both like and wear all the time.
