  If this is the case you would want a RAID5 setup....so storage wise you can minus one disk.

  So if you have 3 - 500GB drives running RAID5, your actual storage will be 1GB.

  • Sorry, if you are looking to do the above (NAS type backup) you actually want it running RAID1, same storage capactiy rule applies though.designbot
