The only limitation with Student version is that you cannot "upgrade" for a discounted price to the next version of CS, at the student level.

If you buy the Professional version of the CS4 Master Suite at two grand, when CS5 comes out, you can upgrade to the Professional version of CS5 at a discounted rate. For the sake of example, let's say the upgrade price is only $200.

Now let's say you buy CS4 Student version instead. When CS5 comes out, there will be a Student version for that too. There is no "discount rate" for the Student version upgrade. So you cannot pay $200 to upgrade from CS4 Student to CS5 student, you will have to buy the CS5 bundle of your liking at the normal rate.

That is the only difference anymore. It used to be that they left a lot of the extra resources out -- like no plug-ins for AfterEffects, as someone mentioned before.

    • Oh, and I think with Student version, you can only install on one computer instead of three.dMullins
