I agree. Here's the thing, everyone defends it and calls it a "style" ok fine then show me some traditional drawings/illustrations........no... They can't. I think traditional art is going to hell. Skill is going way down and as thought by many we are in another dark age awaiting another renaissance (I hope). Of course the current focus and everyone's wet dream seems to be Barney now and I just say fuck that. I believe it's discouraging. Now there are some very valid psychological deep thoughts there but I don't think it's what we need now. I think it's just a poor excuse for talent. NO. I'm not saying Barney is untalented lol, I'm just saying people are hiding behind his beliefs (and beliefs of others, not just him). I wonder what his opinion on this would be...However there is crap. I think he would agree along with anyone else. The only people who would defend these bad drawings are those who have no talent or even dare I go so far as to say CARE for art. Of course it could just be people becoming lazy and unappreciate for things because as we all know nothing in today's world is sacred...Anyway, according to those with the new "movement" or one movement anyway, a drawing is just a representation not a presentation therefore it is ultimately wrong and not only fails but "destroys" the original. So why try to make it "realistic" when it can never be anyway. BULLSHIT!!! I think that's being used the wrong way and that's by the intelligent people. Most people who are responsible for these bad drawings can't even figure out what the hell I was just talking about. Of course I may not have been 100% accurate and I didn't cover everything but I think for breverity you understand. I hope you all do and this is a good point. YES art is dead/dying. What next? Lawyers for artists?
