I don’t know your friends personality so I don’t know how responsive he would be to your “intervention”. Of course he needs to be at a point where he makes a concrete decision of his own to get this shit handled.

Having said that, does he do drugs? If so, maybe you can talk him into purchasing the following:

Wellbutrin/Burpropion – great for depression acts as a norepinephrine and dopamine reuptake inhibitor (similar mechanism in which cocaine acts, but obviously there is NO HIGH, just self-esteem enhancement)

Lithium – One of the most effective medications implicated in quietening the “manic episodes” highly recommend this, pretty much a vitamin supplement easy to purchase.

Selegeline Hydrochloride/Deprenyl – My favourite (amazing effects on libido) selective inhibitor of MAO-B; MAO-B metabolizes dopamine and phenylethylamine. It also partly metabolises in to l-methamphetamine, which helps concentration. The overall effect is a feeling of both well being and DRIVE (focused drive). However use this selectively, as tolerance to this drug can grow super-quick, so low dose one week on one week off.

I would also recommend testosterone boosting for any man, as the sense of well-being and "empowerment" this hormone provides is unparalleled. But i wouldn't expect the unitiated to start fucking about with their hormones, that can bitch slap you in the face if you don't know what you're doing.

This should set him right for a brief period, giving you a window of opportunity in which cognitive behaviour therapy style intervention can be effective – i.e, he can work on the core issues and core behaviour realigning the neural pathways through behaviour adjustments and controlling the spiral of negative thoughts at the route.

If you need sources for these medication, let me know.

    G’luck!

    • You also have SSRI's for extreme cases, but i wouldn't want to fuck with my serotonin levelsKhurram
    • not that they aren't effective. In which case, Prozac, Zoloft and citalopram are all goodKhurram
