That's a really good point, but maybe I am hypocritical in some way, but I support those films.
Mainly because it is not on purpose, it is just a style of story and the content has to do with drugs. These director's and screenwriters aren't writing with the intent to raise activity in drug rings, it is their art, and in Requiem and Salton Sea for instance, they did drugs, and they seemed "cool" sometimes, but it was not glorified for everyone to see, and so often parents are willing to snort coke in front of their kids.
It is more of exposure to reality (to an extent, sometimes a very small extent), which cigarette ad's are far from doing. Their ad's are not people coughing and dying.. I would say what happens in the movies but I don't want to ruin either of them, they were good.
