Freelance, self-employment, subcontractor etc has been my main source of income, for quite some time now. 9am - 7pm would be an ordinary day but I'm thinking about something work-related 24/7, whether it's project-related, self education, networking, marketing, or something else. I work weekends during the winter months (because I hate going outside) and rarely work weekends during the summer (because I love warm weather) -- unless it's paying something extraordinary. My average work week is about 50 - 60 hours but if you factor in no commute and the fact that I'm not dressing up in the morning, my hours are probably on par with what the average person's day is like from waking up to the end of the work day. I used to work A LOT more (like all hours of the day and night) but have found ways to be more productive. I'm much happier working less hours and spending more time with my family.
