    Though I agree with the purpose of an IE6 death march, from a designer's perspective, the world is not that simple.

    * Sometimes people can't choose.

    Ie. employes in an organisation that only gives users web access from a virtual environment, like Citrix. They have an admin who chooses for them, and sometimes admins have other objectives than we do. The users get cought in the middle. Another example is users from third world countries with outdated equipment.

    * Should the designers and technicians rule the web or should the users?

    I believe in user power. It's one of the great things about the web that everybody can participate. Designers should design for maximum accessibility, but still keep the product's target group in mind. The two _can_ work together.

    * My suggestion is:

    Design for the best browsers available and use state of the art techniques all you want, but don't fuck with everybody that uses outdated or weird browsers. Just dumb the design down so that the content still works. After all, it's all about the content, right? :)

    This will make just about anything work in IE6, as long as you use web standards: http://code.google.com/p/univers…
