like i said, with package managers and such, now-a-days it's not that hard anymore.
"pacman -A foo.pkg.tar.gz"
just as one example.

probably my favorite distro.
i understand the lack of interest for linux due to it's past reputation for difficulty, but those times are fading faster and faster every day...and in most cases are completely gone already...as with OSX you can do things the new way or the old way...you can use shell/term just as you would on a linux/unix box in OSX. they're pretty similar in functionality.
that's why so many linux/unix geeks like osx.
i think it's a great system, i just don't like or buy into the idiotic hype of apple. that was my original statement.
