I'm surprised by the fact that TMZ (of all media outlets) reported it first and also confirmed it before anyone else. I'm not of fan at all of TMZ, I'm just amazed at all the disbelief they got initially, but were the only media outlet that was really on top of it as it happened. The L.A.Times reported that "TMZ is reporting..", then retracted, saying he was in a coma. The major networks were reporting "TMZ reports..." until TMZ confirmed it first a half an hour later, before they all accepted the final news - from TMZ.
