all this ripping and "too close" talk is nonsense. He did was what right for the client and budget and it was within the legal limits.
After that he asked QBN for help so he wouldn't have to spend more time on it than necessary. That's called crowd-sourcing, it's an idea you QBN people should warm up to.
Should have turned off the computer and counted his money instead of making changes though.
