mmhhh... I feel the 2nd attempt is a bit weak, compared to the 1st one. for sure you didn't spend as much time to redo it. You could play so more with the liquid going in/out or the letter, and get a very dynamic effect.
well... as you said it's a 5O$ job, but if you spend a little more time on it, you could put it in your portfolio. it's up to you. (And if you are motivated, this font/effect would be the perfect excuse to try realflow!)
