From a web developer and designers point of view, Google is definitely not as bad as Microsoft.
Look at the Google support for open standards vs. Microsoft's crappy Internet Explorer browser which has stifled development of the web.
OK, so they won't pay the chick for her ink splatter art. But on the bigger issues I'd much rather have Google than some other company for the time being.

- ok yeah they're stubburn, but they invented AJAX and their ActiveX controls were for the longest time way more advanced than CSS...zarkonite
