Okay, so I used to have a Toyota wagon... it was lovely, and got almost 40mpg. It broke down after a short roadtrip to Philadelphia after almost 216,000 miles. Since then, my mom bought a car that we've shared because I needed to get to school etc...
1996 Toyota Carolla sedan, 55,000 miles (gets around 32mpg, sometimes better)
She paid $4500 for it, brakes failed and I got into a minor accident, round repairs to around 1000. She offered to sell it to me entirely for $5500 over 24 months. What does the blog say I do? The price sounds good to me, nobody else around has any good cars for sale, and I can spread the payment out (which is good, since right now I don't have that much). The only problem I can see is once the school year starts, I'm not sure how much work I'll be able to get.
- $5500 sounds way overpricedsikma
- and how did the brakes fail with only 55,000 miles on it?sikma
- doesn't sound like it was maintained wellsikma
- It was– put new brakes on after buying, [not our usual] shop put on bad brakes. This car will most certainly go over 200kismith
- Think of it as 4500; the extra thousand is for bodywork that I took responsibility for.ismith
