I normally avoid Ramblas at any time of the day not because of thieves, but to avoid the massive amount of tourists.
And during the night, all the mutants go out screaming braaaaaains, the hookers try to grab you by the arm, the fucking travesties try to grab you by the peenor and those fucking guys from BCNeta start using their fucking hoses to "clean" the Ramblas with water which makes it just a fucking mess.
Yes, a good advice would be not be an idiot around Ramblas/Raval/Gotic, if you want drugs try to get a friend who lives here to get them for you, don't believe anyone who offers that on those areas I mention in the street, and please try not to wander around alone being basically wasted because you are the easiest target.
Maybe things have worsened I don't really know, I have a good eye for avoiding thugs in Barcelona, maybe because I was born in Caracas and lived there for 24 years and that is one of the most thug/rapist infested dangerous cities in the world.
