cool pie charts

anyone looking at the pie chart should be thinking about what the pie charts are saying to them...it is information...and the way they look should support that, not distract from it. it should only make it very very clear what is being said to them in the pie chart.
in my opinion, if the pie charts look cool enough that someone would think 'those look cool' then you have done a disservice to the information. the design should be transparent. the design should be such that you are giving them a feeling of seriousness, of organization, of sophistication.
making a 'sexy' pie chart that calls attention to itself simply says about the presenter; "i know this is boring information, but i thought maybe i could make it look 'sexy' and distract from the actual information." and that actually diminishes the seriousness of the information that the presenter is giving.
