Be careful of banking stocks. Volatile at the moment. I'm a long term investor of shares, I don't do the daily trade.
I use halifax sharebuilder - also worth looking into. They are doing free international trades for a week 8-12th June which would be good to get some Pfizer/Intel/AMD shares if you are UK based. Usually an international trade will cost you £17.50.
