Last time I flew through Chicago (aka Shit-cargo), I had a 6 or 7 hr layover. I was traveling from B.Aires to LA via way too many stops so i had a ton of crap to keep me busy at the airports.
inside scoop:
1. Go to the hotel in the airport there, it's a Marriott or something. Talk to the bellman at the desk near the entrance, offer him $10 (or more, but have it in your hand) for him to check your bags for a few hours because you want to check out the city. He's probably be a overly proud Chicagoan (we all are in some fashion) and he'll feel it's his duty to help you out. And chances are he'll do it in a heartbeat b/c no one tips at those hotels, unless you look shady of course.2. Hop on the Blue line, get off at the Damen stop, grab lunch at The Sultan Cafe / Market. The owner is a prick, but the food is delicious. Get the egg pita and a bowl of lentil soup.
3. Get back on the train, head downtown, swing into Millennium Park, the MCA, the new wing of the Art Institute.
4. High-tail it back to the airport.
- Egg pita and lentil soup. Sounds like the worst possible lunch conceivable.********
- agreed..that lunch sounds dreadful. But other than that it just may workmarychain
