What I have heard is that no one has any real genuine issues with CS4, they just like to moan at something new.
The main problem is the size of it and the processor power. So, What you do need is a powerful computer to run it efficiently. The installer is around 6.5GB alone.
I have not used all the programs though.
One main gripe I do have is the massive Hike in cost the Adobe whacked on for everyone in the world except the US
