I wasn’t going to jump in but there seems to be a lot of misinformation surrounding the development of this project, so, i’m here to set the record straight.
I directed this project from start to finish for Ford’s agency in Detroit. The entire project from concept to completion took about 4 months. The 3D was created in London - directly from Ford engineering CAD data. These data files were roughly 20 gigabytes in size. Pretty intense stuff. The animation and render process took about 6 weeks. Upon completion, the TGA files were sent to 2 Advanced for timing corrections and additional touchups.
The green-screen shoot for Rick Titus happened here in Detroit. The footage was then sent to 2 Advanced for touch-ups and integration.
All visual design, flash animation and sound design was done by 2 Advanced. They were honestly the glue that brought all of these separate components together and made them work as one distinct piece. I work with 2A quite a bit and have nothing but good things to say about them.
As far as the cost, I won’t say exactly how much, but I will say it was more than anyone has mentioned here.
