look, I started this thread because of the scientific discovery of a coming period of high solar flare activity combined with the realization that our current electrical grid is prone to potentially catastrophic failures due to such occurences. The 2012 thing was more or less a joke as this thing could happen today, it could happen next week, it could happen in 2012 or 2020..whatever..it was a snarky title about a pretty weighty threat to our civilization, that isn't unprobable or unthinkable.
The fact that you guys ran with this straight into "oh noes, the mayans say we're all gonnna die because of aliens and astronomy and shit.." is not my doing.
And Kwesij starts going off on the sun aligning in the galaxy center. What the fuck does that mean exactly? The Solar System lies about 100 lightyears off the central plane of our galaxy, and the Earth's orbit is tilted about 70 degrees with respect to that plane. And we orbit the center of the galaxy. We're ALWAYS fucking aligned with the center. This is just nutjobhippie crystal shit, so keep it out of my fucking science thread.
