If the Republicans nominate Palin in 2012 it would be a perfect time for a third party, ie self financed candidate like Perot to run.
Basically a younger, less crazy version of Ron Paul, fiscally conservative, socially liberal could easily trump someone like Palin. Not sure if they could beat Obama, but they could come close. If a third party came in 2nd in 2012 it would be a watershed event.
