Bear in mind that Lincoln has totally changed. They developed a whole new block for this stuff, and merged the two Unis there into the single University of Lincoln.
I would venture that rental is cheaper in Lincoln than Falmouth, but that's only based on the knowledge that house prices are much lower in Lincoln.. of course, rentals may not be.
Lincoln is a really nice city, but it's an hour from the beach. That makes it easy enough to go to in the summer tho, and the public transport is not too bad.
Besides, the new gynormous cinema right next to the University makes Lincoln a great place.
BTW, I'm not at Lincoln, I just live in the county and go there often.
