    Keep it as simple as possible. With electrics, you have to worry about amps and settings, which can be confusing or distracting as a beginner.

    Just get a decent acoustic. Get used to the fretboard, and get your strumming hand used to strumming rhythms.

    I stress this; get a decent tuner. Tune the guitar every time you play it, to get your ears used to the sounds that SHOULD be coming from your guitar. This and dexterity in your hands are the most important things. fancy amps and distortion come later.
