    Maybe we're not talking about the same things. I'm not sure what the word "acoustic" means to you in the US. You seem to be making a distinction just between acoustic and electrical guitars.

    But around here an "acoustic" guitar means a folk-guitar (big bodied steel-stringed guitar) whereas a "classical" guitar means a smaller-bodied nylon-stringed guitar.

    Anyway, Mr. Atkinson, ask a music professor which sort of guitar one should start with. They should know.

    • Classical and steel-stringed, a well as various others, are all acoustic. Anything using acoustic amplification.ismith
