  you have a point itstimefortea, but consider that since the first concept, i went on the "client view" way :P. He wanted a more futuristic/ tech/ easeToRead/ and with Awesome written all over :)
  So this is what it led me to.

  You are wright to sofakingbanned, i liked the first concept better also, but the client had his point, and the anime festival is hold in US.
  The fans can relate better to a more american interpretation.
