This new one is easier to read but doesn't have that cool Japanese anime feel. This has an American/interpretation of anime feel to it. macross style at best. (I hope this doesn't sound like I'm cutting it down, its nice)
Your first concept was much more on point in terms of style.
Anime is crazy funky and exaggerated, even the serious stuff has a level of exaggeration.Thats just my 2ยข.
